Tiny effort makes big difference

Today I heard a story on one of the single mother diagnosed with leg cancer has already spread to lungs.  Her daughter got no option but to ask help from Facebook, her daughter mentioned she has 2 option:

  1. Continue cancer treatment with estimated cost of more than half a million
  2. Remove leg so that it stop spreading to other parts

It is sad to hear that, however, similar cases are happening everyday and everywhere, occurring to the person who you may know or who you don’t know.

When I started my job as banker, my mother was very happy and called it a “good job”.  I believed people in my generation could relate to me very well. I started moving from one bank to another because of higher salary pay. The increase of my pay could be RM100 or RM200, it might seem low now but back in the days it could have took me few years to get my salary increase for that amount.

As time goes by, I start to wonder should I settle down myself to work in this bank until the day I retire? Yes, I can, I thought. I stayed with the bank for 18 years, going through ups and downs with the bank, hi and bye with whole lots of colleagues. I found myself aren’t getting any happiness from my work other than money and promotion. I started doubting, was my choice to stay correct? Or should I take on other better offer from another bank which was recruiting me? In the end, the timid me chose not to make a move because I was afraid to make changes. I continued my life as a banker and life goes on as it usually be.

Unfortunately, things don’t get along with my wish. Unfairness treatment and empty promises were coming to me. I couldn’t take it anymore and I made the decision to leave the banking industry. While I was having a miserable time in my work life, an opportunity arrived. It was a new industry which I have zero experience in it, the insurance industry. I received numerous comment when I said I joined insurance. Let me share with you my story and journey in this industry now!

My mother was diagnosed with cancer at the age of 42. I was young and my father had no idea what he should do too. We had no much saving to pay for the extremely expensive medical bill, we had no one to teach us what should we do, we had nobody to help us through this journey. We had no other option, we tried our best to get the affordable traditional medicine, trying to help my mother feeling better. Long story short, our family missed the “golden time” to treat her due to many reasons, her cancer got worst and she passed away 6 months later.

From story and journey I have been through, I believe I can share this to everyone

1. Treatment and medical cost,

2. Family relief on financial burden,

3. With alternative treatment if family has money

4. Have a better care for family members.

In conclusion, I love my career now. It is meaningful and it brought me indescribable happiness whenever I can help others out there in the world. I am truly grateful to be here where I am today. Learning, helping and growing my career to secure my income is absolutely important as it contribute to my family to ensure them to be able to continue their life as usual.

Last but not least, I would like to share you a sentence which I often hear from my clients. “I appreciate the information and advice you have shared, thank you for your assistance.” I often felt appreciated and happy that my career would bring me such satisfaction.
