I am Shima from Sungai Petani, I am originally a Penangite and my passion is baking. I love baking Cakes and my cakes are healthy as it is not very sweet and oily. My home made cakes are moist, fluffy and delicious!!
I usually bake for family occasions, club celebrations, friends’ office events and whenever requested.
My signature is Butter cake, baked with my mummy’s A to Z trademark recipe which is I think could be more than 50 years old. I used to help my mum bake cakes for all family Birthday parties, Christmas and as a gift for friends and relatives. Not for business but for family celebrations only, which is how I learnt to bake.
I have been baking since my secondary school days as I was in the Home Science class. I baked marvelous brandied fruit cakes for Christmas too but when I started my carrier life after school I did not have time to bake and I lost touch of it.
My mum used to persuade me to bake but I will always tell her “never mind mummy, U bake la” When my mum passed on, all of us missed her cakes during our Birthdays. So one day I took her recipe book and started my baking spree. She wrote all the recipes beautifully and placed it in a file for me to take over her trade.
The cakes I bake is not topped with any cream or icing. I would always design it my way with some colorful edible cake decorative items such as mix fruits, jelly, jam, chocolates, cherries etc.
The varieties of my cakes are Golden butter cake, moist butter cake, milo cake, red velvet butter cake, lychee cake, carrot, pineapple upside down cake. I do have my own “mix and match” recipe too. Recently I have even learnt to bake vegetarian cakes.
I feel a great joy in my heart when I am able to make others happy and especially when I hear praises about my yummylicious cakes.
